Power management in KDE

Hello
I am using KDE 4.1.3 in OpenSUSE 11.1.
In the Power Management section of KDE, Edit Profiles -> CPU and System, there is an entry System powersaving scheme with two options: powersaving and performance.

Do you know where they are defined and how I can edit/create these schemes?

Thank you
Oscar

All configuration takes place within the Power Management part of the advanced section of Configure Desktop

Thank you for your reply, caf4926.

This is the system powersaving scheme option with the two possible values: powersaving and performance.

But I can’t find where these two options are defined. :frowning:

I remember having limited options like this when using KDE 4.1.3. I strongly recommend upgrading to KDE4.2 BTW.

At a file level, have a look ~/.kde4/share/config/powerdevilprofilesrc

I agree. Go with the 4.2.4 repo. I know some might recomment the 4.3,
but I know I’m not quite ready to take the risk there yet, but YMMV.

Seriously it’s just great. I thought Texans ate nails for breakfast! kde4.3 is a case of sloppy grits for you, surely?

Last attempt I made at 4.3 + compiz didn’t work out to well. For what
I’m doing, I need compiz… but I haven’t tried again, and I think the
4.3 has rev’d since my last attempt.

In 4.2 you’ll also have Presentation & Extreme Powersave.

Thanks for the replies.

My problem is that with that setting in “powersave” mode, WiFi won’t work.

Is it possible to have both the current KDE 4.1.3 an 4.2.x installed in the same system? Where should I get 4.2 from?

It’s an upgrade, can’t have both
