Power down by power button Frezzing

My laptop is frezzing when I press the power down button. Not completely though, I am able to minimize windows etc just not able to click anything on the panel thus I can’t power off and end up having to hold the power button until the computer powers off. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how I could deal with this. As well I am wanting to set it up so that I could power of the computer simply by closing the lid.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Are you also telling us that a powerdown request via the menu (Is this gnome ot kde?) also does not work?

In KDE the setting for powerdown on lid close
SUSE Paste

Also, what happens if you choose reboot?

Have you tried calling shutdown from a terminal

su -
shutdown -h now

Sorry I got it fixed it was strictly user error. I’m still fairly new to linux and thus prone to stupid mistakes lol. The issues was that it was locking up when the unit went to sleep because that was what the power button was doing. After I changed it to shutdown it worked fine. I don’t know why it was freezing on sleep but also don’t currently care. Thanks so much though for the quick reply
