Postfix Still Default MTA?

Is Postfix the default MTA for openSuse 11.1 ?

Thankfully yes.

Ok, because someone set up an openSuse 11.1 server for me and when I went to configure Postfix it looked like it wasn’t installed, but sendmail was.

I believe so, yes.

Good luck.

“Someone” “setup”.

I can see where things went wrong

Ok, based on your Voice of Authority, I will substitute Postfix for sendmail and undo the situation!

Halleluja!

Ok, more information.

If I go to

Network Services/Mail Transfer Agent

I get a screen that says

Mail server is not configured. Select configuration type according to your personal needs. If you want to use sendmail as your MTA you have to use Standard configuration".

(X) Standard
( ) Advanced

Now if I pick Advanced, it then prompts me for installing postfix. It also seems to require LDAP.

So, it looks like sendmail is the default for Standard.
Postfix is the default for Advanced.
