Postfix and LDAP

The opensuse 11.1 MTA setup will install Postfix in the Advanced mode, but requires installing LDAP.

I didn’t want to run an LDAP server so I installed postfix via Yast.

Now when I send email, my postfix log is cluttered with lots of messages about “cant find LDAP server”.

Is it a requirement to install LDAP?

No, LDAP is not required to run postfix, but some sites do use it. Is there no option in YaST not to connect postfix to a LDAP server? Maybe you’ll have to configure without using YaST then.
