Post Patch update DVD/CDrom's explicitly disabled

(post ps -ef | grep hald)

Hald-addon-storage: no polling on /dev/sr0 because it is explicitly disabled

Same stated for sr1 and fd0

I have a 0:0:1:0 cd/dvd and 7:0:0:0 cd/dvd in the system (lsscsi).

(Linux linux-XXXXX 2.6.27.29-0.1-default #1 SMP 2009-08-15 17:53:59 +0200 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)

that respond with

ls -l /dev/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 2009-08-25 01:11 /dev/cdrom -> sr1
ls -l /dev/dvd
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 2009-08-25 01:11 /dev/dvd -> sr1

0:0:1:0 the ide cd doesn’t show up after that last command and produces this line in boot.msg (a misleading bone here I think)
<3>ck804xrom ck804xrom_init_one(): Unable to register resource 0x00000000ff000000-0x00000000ffffffff - kernel bug?

notifier see thumb drives, Dolphin see’s thumb drive but cd drives are missing. New security patches I ass-u-me updated yesterday or day before.

A growing concern … statement will warn that resets will be likely but it’s a guessing game as to what will be affected. Small price for the wonder-mint of Linux and I mean that in a good way … unless you have a deadline that could cost you $$$ or your job.

But I digress, since I know that the floppy and Cd’s are being disabled and I’m a convert with no hair on my head … what am I tweaking here to get them back?

I’m on the night shift so don’t feel pressured and I’ll check back tomorrow morning (8/26)
