Post Install OpenSUSE 12.2 KDE : Packagekit/Apper lock Zypper/Yast indefinitely [SOLVED]

Newby friendly way -

  1. Open Apper Updater & reconfigure to ‘never’ check.

  2. Set “apper” to not automatically start.

(In KDE, that’s at “Configure Desktop” → “Startup and Shutdown” → “Service Manager”)

  1. Reboot & remove packagekit (and apper).

(In KDE open a terminal(console) & issue: *sudo zypper rm packagekit)

You are now free to use Zypper in terminal(console) or Yast in GUI as god intended

From two 12.2 installs my impression is that apper has it’s value specially if the user is new or not a fan of yast, as it is basically automated.
AFAIK just following your steps 1 & 2 are enough to disable it, no need to uninstall.
