port forwarding

Hi! i am new here… so i didn’t know where to place this thread…
My question is:
I have OA ( OpenArena , quake) its a FPS-game (fps= 1stPersonShooter)
I want to have my own server for it… every thing is ok. I have a server.cfg file and a server launch script. but if I run the server its not in the list of online server (Real-time Open Arena Listings for Master Server dpmaster.deathmask.net)
I have read in a other forum that must port forwarding in my router… so I have done… but still I aren’t in the list of online servers. :frowning:

The only thing that comes to mind is that the host-based firewall may be
blocking your traffic from the port-forwarding router to your system.
If you have another box on your network you can do a quick test of a
port with the following command (requires NetCat, which is a default
package in SUSE):

netcat -zv ipAddressOfYourHost portNumberToTest
netcat -zv 192.168.1.2 27660

Knowing which port(s) to forward will be something to find out from
Quake, and you’ll also need to open those ports in the firewall on your
host or anywhere else that could block traffic. Yast: Security and
Users: Firewall: Allowed Services: Advanced. Be sure the port(s) is/are
listed there.

Good luck.

Have you verified you can reach the desired ports from outside your
network? If so then the problem is probably more of an application
issue. What does does Quake require when setup as a server?

Good luck.
