Please show summary for updates in Myrlyn

I wish if the GUI of Myrlyn would show me a summary of updates for total amount of data that needs to be downloaded and total changes of disk usage too. When there are several hundreds of package updates it’s practically impossible to add them up manually.

Welcome to the Forums!
When in doubt, open a terminal and issue zypper dup : that will show the summary you are asking for and more.

Look at the bottom left. This has been there in Myrlyn as well as in YaST2-Qt sw_single since forever, but at some time some product manager decided that this “makes it look too complex” (well, yeah, it is complex), so we had to hide it by default.

You can use it right now with your existing Myrlyn: Move the mouse cursor to the bottom left until you see that faint outline of a “divider”, and the mouse cursor changes into “resize vertically”, then drag it up.

Yes, it’s not 100% the same as in zypper; there is simply not enough free screen space to add even more stuff.

I see. But I see no reason why Myrlyn couldn’t show these informations on the GUI and why should I use CLI only to receive these informations. Synaptic does a very great job on this topic it’s worth a look at it.

I see. It’s a bit annoying that it is hidden by default and I have to pull that from the bottom every time I open Myrlyn. Also it is basically invisible. If there would be a small upward button that would open it and it would turn into a downward button when the user opens it would be able to raise awareness for the user to know that there is actually something there.
