I currently have Ubuntu coming from Vista, it is awesome. but, i want to try OpenSUSE because I heard its good for coding and hacking. So heres what I want to do, I want to install XP (for gaming), then dual boot OpenSUSE. Please explain in depth what to do. Im a total noob at Linux, but have used Windows since 95. I know how to install Windows its just I don’t really know how to add OpenSUSE and make a partition for it without somehow screwing up my XP install. If you could please tell me exactly what to do and it would be greatly appreciated.
Note: This is a laptop I want to perform this on, and please try not to use too much jargon, as i am a noob at Linux
It would be much easier for you to install Windows first and then OpenSuse. This way, Suse will automatically configure duall boot for you. If you start with suse and install Windows later, it will overwrite bootloader and you will need to do some command line kungfu and livecd to get back into opensuse and to restore multiboot bootloader.
Make several partitions, e.g. 1st primary for Windows (~10-16GB), second Extended for OpenSuse (within it - one for root (~12GB), and one for swap(I have 2GB RAM and gave 1.5GB to swap); the fird primary partition could be NTFS for shared data files)
