Hi All. I cannot play TV shows on the following website Latest Shows - Plus7 TV - Yahoo!7. It is funny really as I can watch TV shows on WIN7 and PClos, but not on Opensuse 12.3, Fedora 19 , Kubuntu 13.04, Mint 15 and Mageia 3. All my distro’s run kde4 and are 64 bit systems. I have installed the 1 click codecs pack on Suse and do feel that a codec or a plugin is missing. I have tried the following browsers opera, firefox and Konqueror. All help will be appreciated. Cheers

openSUSE is pure open you got to dig for any proprietary stuff you might need. And I have no idea what is needed here. I really don’t think it is worth the effort considering the quality of modern TV lol

all their content is geoblocked so only an Australian user is going to be able to help you out.

However, in system requirements they state that Linux is supported - so perhaps you should contact them to find out what is going on.

The System recommendations are:

  • Browser:
    Internet Explorer 8+, Firefox 1.5+, Opera 8+ or Safari 2.0+ > - Video player:
    Adobe Flash Player 10+ > - PC:
    Pentium 4 or above > - Mac:
    Intel based Mac (2GB or more of RAM) > - JavaScript and Cookies must be enabled

do you get any kind of error message?

Another thing to try would be Chromium with the pepperflash plugin (pepperflash is available in packman).

You seem to have some incompatible mix of packages installed.
Please post the output of the following commands:

zypper lr -d
rpm -qi opera libcurl4 gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad libdc1394-22

Well, that GStreamer warning is “normal”, I get that as well. And I don’t think that’s causing your problem anyway, since the gstdc1394 plugin is just for reading pictures from cameras AFAIK.

But I don’t even have a /usr/lib64/opera directory, so you seem to have installed opera from a different place than the standard repo (from the opera homepage maybe?).
You could try with the version included in openSUSE’s non-oss repo.

But it doesn’t work with Firefox either?
Hm. I can’t try the video myself because of that region lock, so don’t know if it should work or which codec it may use. Sorry.

Do you have gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad-orig-addon and gstreamer-0_10-plugins-ugly-orig-addon installed? Not sure atm if they are part of the codec-installer.

Please use CODE tags, not QUOTE tags.
Some explanation: CODE tags causes that what’s inbetween them is mono-spaced, i.e. every char takes the same amount of space. This guarantees that stuff that’s in nice colums in a terminal window, displays here in the same nice colums.

To be honest: a repo list like this is a mess. Chances for conflicts etc. are huge. As well as having the right packages from the wrong repo. My guess is that some of the multimedia packages may not come from the Packman repo where they should.
Try this:

zypper dup --from Packman\ Repository

NB. The “” needs to be there to escape the space char

Sorry about the slow reply. I did a fresh install of Opensuse 12.3, keeping repositories to a minimum. Still I cannot play plus7 TV shows. Not a problem as I can still play them on PClinuxOS. May be 13.1 will have better luck. Thanks
