Play Icecast streams in Amarok?

The Dutch public radio broadcasts will be changing from Shoutcast to Icecast shortly.

As an example, one of the Icecast URLs will be as follows: http://livestreams.omroep.nl/npo/mp3/3fm-bb.pls

Is there a way to play such a stream in Amarok?

(I know VLC will play the stream, I would prefer to have the stream play in Amarok).

Thanks in advance.

This is on openSUSE 11.4.

I used the URL you provide in FF. I am asked what to do with it. I browsed and clicked Amarok. I got sound out of my loudspeakers.

Does this answer your question?

When yes, this seems an obvious way to try for me, what is blocking you from doing it?

Thanks for the hint. It works as you suggested.

What I really want is to be able to show have Icecast links shown in the left hand window of Amarok and drag stations to the playlist to the right, just like you do with local files.

As I allready suggested above, why do you leave it to us to do even the most obvious of tests?

What did you try in Amarok to achieve what you want and where got you stuck?

Hi Henk,
Slightly off topic but please could you help me get upnp working with Amarok so I can use it as client for upnp source. I have been trying for about a year hoping somebody would work on this. I have posted here and KDE forum but am not sufficiently skilled to get it working. One file I need kio-upnp-ms isonly on Git. I managed to download package but couldn’t make and install following instructions that came with the download. Surely somebody can put rpm for openSUSE on repo site somewhere.
Grateful for any help when you have time please.
