play audio during login screen??

noob running suse 11.1 kde 4.1

I would like to have "background music while the computer is at the login screen waiting for a user to login. is this possible by editing the xml file? or the kdmrc? i dont see any options in the login manager for kdm, and google hasnt turned up anything more positive than a few hits about rss feeds.

thanks in advance for any help anyone may have.

I suppose this may be possible by writing your own login script and calling alsa to play the audio file, but this would not be trivial. The default is for audio to be played through the Desktop Environment manager (KDE or Gnome) using its sound server back-end (hence the welcome sound as the desktop is being loaded), but the DE is not started until after logon.
