Plasma start errors after todays updates

I just installed some 600+ updates this morning on TW and on a reboot Plasma fails to start properly with error messages across the screen and where the bottom panel should be. One starts with “Error loading QML file: file:///user/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.containment/contents/ui/main.qml:29:1:plugin cannot be loaded”. I am currently dual booted into Leap to post this. I have a screenshot of the whole message but need to find somewhere to upload it and link to it.

So bottom line here is that I cannot start the KDE desktop session correctly. Anyone have any ideas please as to how to resolve this?

BTDT.

I first did the upate using the GUI updater applet. After getting this error I went to a Ctl+Alt+F1 session and tried zypper dup. That gave me a conflict with libqt5-webengine(sic). Selected the option to remove that package, and it then proceeded to install another 70 updates, and now I can login to KDE.

I had a slightly different result with zypper dup but having guessed which options to take on the other errors I now have TW working, thanks.

Thanks. Same result for me.

To add a little more colour, after selecting the option to remove the qt webengine, you’re still going to be faced with a number of dependency crisises … just select the break qt webengine option each time… eventually you get to the point of adding the 70 additional packages and should then be back in business after a reboot of kde

It would be good if someone has any ideas as to why we hit this error?

See this thread on the factory mailing list.

Because you are using tumbleweed
