Hi, In my current version of Plasma, there is a ~30 seconds delay for the desktop to appear after I enter the password. I looked at the KDE forum and some members reported a much shorter delay by disabling the splash screen theme, so I selected “None” in System Settings > Workspace theme > Splash screen. When I rebooted the computer, the ~30 sec delay remained unchanged so I thought splash screen was not the issue. Now, I am unable to get my openSUSE splash screen back in spite of selecting it in System Settings > Workspace theme > Splash screen. I tried selecting other splash screens (Breeze, Breeze Dark, Oxygen) but none of them work. However, when I login as root, I get openSUSE splash screen. It appears that I have messed up some configuration although I don’t understand how this is possible. I need help in getting back my openSUSE splash screen.
First: never login as root on a desktop. It can have side-effects.
Next: logout,
Hit Ctrl+Alt+F1
Login with username and password
do
rm ~/.config/ksplashrc
Hit Ctrl+Alt+F7
Login and the default splash should be restored.

I will keep that in mind.

Your solution worked, thank you ! I really appreciate your help
