I have a second panel on top of my desktop with some application launchers, pager, etc. The problem is that each time I login, plasma rearranges these icons. I tried to lock the widgets but it still reorders every time I login.
How can I fix this? I’m using kde4.3.3.
PS I was thinking to change the rights of .kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc to read-only, but then I will probably not be able to add more widgets…
You might suffer from old plasma settings. Don’t know how long you’ve been using KDE4 without ever starting with a clean plasma-desktop, but this is what it looks like.
To start with a clean plasma-desktop, logout, hit Ctrl-Alt-F1 to the console. Login with username and password and do:
rm -f ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma* && exit
Hit Ctrl-Alt-F7, log back in to KDE4, reapply your settings for the desktop and you should be OK. I run about the same thing (top panel for pager, systray, clock etc.), had same trouble, configured the desktop as described, all working OK now.
thx for the help, but still no success:(. Are you using a spacer? I also tried removing the spacer and replace it with an transparant dummy icon, but that doesn’t help either… It seems that first 10 icons on the left are always ok, the rest is rearranged randomly with each login. This is very annoying since I put icons together by category and want them to stay that way.
