I’ve recently upgraded from 13.1 to 13.2 and I noticed a tremendous improvement in how visual network management works. However, I don’t like the fact that the applet that controls wireless connection (which I understand is plasma-nm) does not show the connection speed in the details tab. I’ve found this blogpost with a movie showing the connection speed is displayed and I searched the upstream code for related changes, finding that it is still available for wireless connections (see this commit)
My questions are:
Is the plasma-nm code modified by the opensuse team? If so, where can I find the downstream code?
How can I convince it to show me the connection speed - without recompiling plasma-nm, preferably?
I later tried right-click on the tray icon, and selected Network Manager Settings. And there, I was able to configure the speed to also show in the details tab.
I am using openSUSE 13.2 32bit.
I noticed strange thing in speed values of network connection. It is wireless one in my case.
The speed walues have correct numbers in non expanded state in network management on panel system tray.
But after expanding of line with active connection into detailed graphical progress of speed the values are suddenly incorrect. They are much higher or lower like real value.
After return into non expanded state the values are correct again.
Did anybody noticed this behaviour too?
Previously I was using openSUSE 13.2 64bit on other notebook and there was not this problem.
