try renaming your ~/.kde4 to ~/.kde4.bak, see if the default kde configuration works or not.

I did a upgrade install for 12.1 SUSE. Renaming the old config worked. I had reset everything, but the error is gone. Now, I have a battery backup icon in the system tray. Thanks.
