plasma crash on starts

I dont have deep knowledge and experience with opensuse. So I might need some big helps :S.

Everything start on the screen locker page, It was saying, “The screen locker is broken and unlocking is not possible anymore. In order to unlock switch to virtual terminal, log in and execute the command: loginctl unlock-sessions. Afterwards switch back to the running session.”

So I have used terminal to reboot. I dont have login password, so desktop normally opens after boot. But I get and error screen about Plasma. It says, “We are sorry, Plasma closed unexpectedly.”. On the details section it says, “Signal: Illegal instruction (4)”. I do not know why this happens, everything was great before…

Can someone advice me please??

Do you have root password and your user’s password?

Yes I do have root access and also user password, I have set both same on the installation.

Same thing happening with me. Did an install just this evening with the DVD install media dated 20160307 and it booted fine. Aside from the folder shortcuts on the desktop (Home and Trash) opening in Gwenview for whatever reason, everything seemed to work fine. I then did a system update (just over 400 packages updated) and now I no longer have a functioning desktop. It immediately comes up with crash dialogs saying plasmashell crashed with a signal of “Illegal instruction (4)”. The desktop is completely black. If I press Alt-F2, krunner immediately crashes with the same “Illegal instruction” signal. I’ve blown away my entire .config directory, but the crashes persist.

Edit: I also have the same error as OP with the screen locker being broken. I knew Tumbleweed would have hiccups occasionally, but I thought these packages were still at least tested… I’m on 64-bit FWIW.

Same thing happening with LEAP 42.1

For some reason, although the Plasma crash has a “report bug” button, it won’t allow me to use it to report the bug.
