I did a clean installation of Tumbleweed. After opening Discover, I went to the “installed” section. What’s strange is that it only displays few apps. So I cant really uninstall apps that came with the Distro as they’re not even shown there. Btw I’m only witnessing this in plasma 6. I dont think it’s intentional
Is it possibly related?
479118 – Discover home screen showing error “Unable to load applications” (kde.org)
Oh they’re different. This one I’m facing is only about installed apps. It doesnt “show” any error at all. It just displays very very very few installed apps there.
Yes, I see the same. The behavior is erratic, it may show different number of installed applications even after clicking through its menu. Looks like a bug.
But do not forget that Discover does not show you packages. It shows Applications. Application may consist of multiple packages and most packages do not belong to any application at all and so will never be shown here. It is more or less same as in GNOME Software.
Yeah you’re definitely right about the package thingies. But I later on noticed that those apps in the “installed” section are all flatpaks
And by the way if you go to the “application launcher” and double-click on an app, the option that says “uninstall or manage add-ons” is still there. And it surprisingly worked after I tested it with 2 apps or more if I remember. I mean… it of course redirects you to that app in “Discover” where u can now uninstall it if u want.
Correction: In regards to what I said on my last comment (2nd line), Those apps are all flatpaks with the exception of VLC and Kate. It’s maybe not too relevant, but just to point it out in case.
It would be nice if we could see the issue and you provide system info.
