Planimo - instant messenger for private lan chats

Hello, everybody!

Firts of all, sorry my bad English :(.

I have a problem :(. I’m using OpenSUSE 11.1 with KDE 4.2.1., and I would like to use the Planimo.
This is an instant messenger for private lan chats.
I have downloaded the programs from here.

As I see this is a phyton program, but I don’t know how can I install it :(.
I was looking for a solution on the Internet, but I haven’t found yet.
I did not find a page, which shows for me, how can I install and configure this program.

Thanks for the help!

Python programs can be executed calling 'python <PROGRAM_NAME>.py
Once you extract the files you can see into /Doc directory a README file explaining some hints.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Now I can start both the server and the client on my PC (and a client on the other PC - the PCs are connect to each other throuh a router, with fixs IPs), and we can chat perfectly, but only that case, if we turn off the firewall (the other PC’s OS is the OpenSUSE 11.0 with Gnome).

But! I would not like to turn off the firewalls, but I don’t know which ports are being used by the Planimo. :frowning:
How can I find that ports or/and how can I setup the firewall correctly?

Thanks!

I think you can send a message to the author marco.ferragina@gmail.com asking for the ports involved.

Thanks for the help!

If I don’t find another solution for my port problem, I will write an email.

Thanks again!

Best wishes, AmperHunter

I have made it! lol!

It works fine and I can use the firewall too! lol!

Thanks for the help!

Best wishes,
AmperHunter

What’s the correct port number you allowed on your firewall? Is it 5099?
