I am in an university residence and all Internet goes through a proxy. But if I try to use Pidgin it says that there an error in the connection (I think that the ports for IM are blocked).
How can I do for use Pidgin behind this proxy? I am using Opensuse 11.2 and Firefox, Amarok, etc work well, but pidgin don’t
Which protocol are you using? For example, AIM, Jabber, Google Talk, IRC,
ICQ, etc.? Also have you tried setting up Pidgin to use the proxy server?
Under Tools: Preferences: Network is a Configure Proxy button on my
system which I have not tried (no need) but may be helpful to you.
Good luck.
