Pidgin 2.7.1 Repo Now Available

Hello!
I have worked endlessly and finally have results: there is now a Pidgin/Finch/libpurple repo available! Current version in the repo as of this post is 2.7.1. The source code has not been altered in any way. You may ‘zypper ar’ this repo using:

Index of /repositories/home:/nbetcher/openSUSE_11.2

(Sorry, other versions of SuSE aren’t compiling, so 11.2 is the only one)

Enjoy!

Thanks for uploading 2.7.1, im using 2.7.0 at the moment. Will update tomorrow

Now updated for more features at build-time including:

  • D-Bus (for KDE/Gnome notifications),
  • Bonjour (if that is your ‘thing’),
  • New spec file ported from SuSE’s spec from the 2.6.6 release; and
  • Splitting the localizations into a separate package (brings main libpurple package down from 6.0MB to 2.0MB!).
  • Packages finally compiled on openSUSE_Factory and openSUSE 11.1 (11.0 still doesn’t compile, but just upgrade to 11.1/11.2/11.3 already! ).

it is crashing all the time:

Pidgin 2.7.1 has segfaulted and attempted to dump a core file.
This is a bug in the software and has happened through
no fault of your own.

If you can reproduce the crash, please notify the developers
by reporting a bug at:
http://developer.pidgin.im/simpleticket/

Please make sure to specify what you were doing at the time
and post the backtrace from the core file. If you do not know
how to get the backtrace, please read the instructions at
GetABacktrace – Pidgin – Trac
Ακυρώθηκε (core dumped)

also people that I talk with have only with me problems with their msn clive lient… it is “not responding” from time to time…

Not sure why that’s happening honestly. I’m not a C/GTK person… C++/Qt/KDE at heart. :slight_smile:

Also, 2.7.2 is in the repo - ENJOY!

First, thank you nbetcher for building pidgin packages for us.

But, my question is, why there is no official build for pidgin ?
Why we can’t find it in one of the official repositories , like it use to be ?

The last official build was for 2.6.6 which was released 6 month ago.

Thanks,
Sagi.

Probably because there’s less developers now that SuSE isn’t a company anymore? I don’t truly know the reason or even if the previous statement holds any merit.

Anyways, Pidgin 2.7.3 is in the repo AND a Facebook plugin! Yay!

Hello everyone! Pidgin 2.7.4 is now in my repository!

2.7.5 is now available in the repo - sorry about the delay!

2.7.6 is now available in the repo!

Just updated using your repository, but i still get the omega contacts error.

@assas1n: As I understand it, omega contacts error is fixed in 2.7.7, but there is only 2.7.6 in this repository available. We need to wait for repository update

2.7.7 now available as well!

2.8.0 is in the repo! My binaries are the first out for any platform!

nicely done !
2.8.0 is not even published in pidgin.im website, yet.
