Pianobar for openSUSE.

Hi,

I could not find the pianobar application (a command line interface to pandora) in the repositories. Here is the repository list:

sudo zypper lr

# | Alias | Name | Enabled | Refresh
--+---------------+-----------------------+---------+--------
1 | 11.3 | 11.3 | Yes | Yes
2 | google-chrome | google-chrome | Yes | Yes
3 | repo-debug | openSUSE-11.3-Debug | No | Yes
4 | repo-non-oss | openSUSE-11.3-Non-Oss | Yes | Yes
5 | repo-oss | openSUSE-11.3-Oss | Yes | Yes
6 | repo-source | openSUSE-11.3-Source | No | Yes
7 | repo-update | openSUSE-11.3-Update | Yes | Yes

Do I have to install any other repository or is it not available as a package in openSUSE.

I downloaded the rpm for CentOS 5 from here and installed it. But when I ran the program it gave me error:

$:~> pianobar
username:**********
password:**********
(i) Login... Network error: getaddr failed.

I know the username and password I typed are correct. It seems the DNS is not able to get the address.

So how can I fix this or should we not use the rpm’s developed for different distribution.

system info:

$:~> uname -a

A simple, although maybe not the best way to solve your problem is to download the latest pianobar from https://github.com/PromyLOPh/pianobar/downloads .
Compile it, you shouldn’t have to do anything other than run make and try running it.
If it doesn’t work you probably have an issue with DNS.
It worked for me.

Thank you it is working now. Does this mean we cannot use the rpm’s for other OS. I thought since both are rpm’s their format will be the same. and hence will be installed correctly.

Also how do I mark this thread solved?

Thanks.
