php5.2 and online update

Hi all,

I’ve downgraded PHP to version 5.2 on OpenSUSE11.2. I used an additional repository for that (Index of /repositories/home:/paca/openSUSE_11.2).
I’ve locked all the packages afterwards, however, the script opensuse.org-online_update still tries to update to PHP 5.3.
Is there something else I need to lock?

Thanks in advance,
Andreas

Start the software installer, select the repo view, tick the mentioned repo. You will see a line above the right panel, where the package list is, that says “Switch system packages to …” That should do the job.

Sorry, but I think I need another hint:

Is that Gnome? (From the day people do tell voluntaraly what they have the number of posts in a thread will be halved).

I do not understand why, but IIRC the feature Knurpht mentions is available in KDE YaST, but not in Gnome YaST. (Riddles all over the planet).

Yes, this is Gnome via X11 forwarding.

Interesting… I haven’t found this feature in the shell version of yast either.
Maybe there is a config file with this option?

I think it is ‘yast2-control-center-qt’ you need to first install,

The GNOME version assumes ‘no options are good options’.

@all: Thanks for your help!
I’ve used the KDE-version to change this option.

However, I still have some headless server systems running with OpenSuSE… I can’t believe that I need to install an X-Server just to change my repository settings.

Of course YaST is only an interface to lower lying commands. In the case of software management the real work is done by zypper. Look at the zypper documentation

man zypper

and how you can change repos with

zypper dup
