Phonon's VLC backend failed to start.

A message appear to me when i do an extracting of a file

"Phonon’s VLC backend failed to start.

This usually means a problem with your VLC installation, please report a bug with your distributor."

Further DVD is not reading and vlc is not working.

Any ideas will be appreciate?

Thanks

What openSUSE version are you using?
And what versions of vlc and phonon-backend-vlc do you have installed? (and from where?)

The most likely reason:
your vlc and phonon-backend-vlc are not compatible.

openSUSE 13.1 and 13.2 ship with VLC 2.1.x, so the included phonon-backend-vlc is built against VLC 2.1.x and doesn’t work with the current VLC 2.2.1.
To make it work, install phonon-backend-vlc from Packman.

If VLC itself is not working at all, then that’s probably also the reason for the error message about Phonon’s VLC backend.
Make sure all VLC packages come from the same repo (preferably Packman), and do not use both the VideoLAN repo and Packman.

For further help, please post your repo list:

zypper lr -d

Another option would be to switch to the gstreamer backend in KDE’s sound settings, or just uninstall phonon-backend-vlc.
