Philips SPC530NC Microphone mute

Wonder if somebody had encountered same problems as me, about
snd_usb_audio and uvcvideo on openSUSE.

Using 11.2 x86_64

BR,

The mic has not worked in years on my Phillips web cam. … I do recall either in a 9.x version of SuSE that it worked.

Have similiar problem on my Acer 5100-3357 w 11.1.
Sound out is ok but cannot record (gnome-sound-record, arecord, krecord all foooooooooobaaaaaaaaaar as is Skype which is how I discovered this feature, in the first place)

Ran amixer and it supposedly uploaded my mess to
http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=5db0467e06f88f58f086067cba8f5536b32b06c7

Noted that even though kmix will show everything incl. Capture to be ON (not mute) running alsa-mixer always shows that Capture, Capture1 and Digital are muted.
Can unmute them but re-running mixer shows they’re muted again

Actually, your problem is anything but similar. The hardware is different. The openSUSE version is different …

Anyway, there are been massive improvements in the alsa sound driver since the version you have in openSUSE-11.1.

Still, I note your mixer is setup with capture OFF !! Your mic won’t record much that way …

Simple mixer control ‘Capture’,0
Capabilities: cvolume cswitch
Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right
Limits: Capture 0 - 31
Front Left: Capture 31 [100%] [34.50dB] [off]
Front Right: Capture 31 [100%] [34.50dB] [off]
Simple mixer control ‘Capture’,1
Capabilities: cvolume cswitch
Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right
Limits: Capture 0 - 31
Front Left: Capture 31 [100%] [34.50dB] [off]
Front Right: Capture 31 [100%] [34.50dB] [off]

I cannot seem to get amixer Capture to unmute

> amixer set 'Capture Front Left 81% unmute ( or what ??? )

returns with Capture(s) off
