Phantom floppy in vmware player

Hi,

I have just installed 12.3 under vmplayer 5.02.

On the hardware definition there is no floppy, however the 12.3 guest
sees it.

Host:

Telcontar:/data/storage_b/Virtual Machines 2/OpenSUSE 12.3 # grep -i
floppy OpenSUSE\ 12.3.vmx
floppy0.present = "FALSE"
Telcontar:/data/storage_b/Virtual Machines 2/OpenSUSE 12.3 #

Guest:

eleanor3:~ # hwinfo --floppy

During bootup, IIRC you can go into the virtual BIOS and disable the virtual floppy.

You are right. The virtual machine has no floppy “hardware”, but the
emulated bios did have one configured.
