Phantom CPU-gobbler

Sometimes I see System Monitor is showing at least 80% cpu use. Looking
at the individual applications via the Process Table tab, I can tot
them all up to about 30% usage. A little while later, the graph in
System Load takes a nosedive and the total registers 30%, matching the
total of the individual applications. What’s using the excess?

Hi
Probably something running an indexer? There is also some daily cron
jobs which if you haven’t set the cron time will run about 15 minutes
after the last reboot time and daily at that time… I always set the
daily cron time between 0300 and 0600…
