I have learned a lot for this forum. Being a newcomer to openSUSE, I don’t have much to offer in return. However, I did muddle through the Seahorse encryption software successfully.
I have always kept my sensitive files (account numbers, passwords, financial data etc) in PGP encrypted files. On windows, I have used the free version of PGP for years. I don’t encrypt any email so I only have one private key.
I was able to export this key to a USB drive and import it into the Seahorse key manager with no problem. Then I was able to open my old encrypted files (Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word documents with OpenOffice calc and writer.
If anyone has any old PGP encrypted files, they will move to openSUSE 11.0 without any problem at all.
This is good information… thank-you for posting it.
Good luck.
