Using “sudo chown -R allan:users /media/mydata” for the partition I use for backups I attempt to copy and paste my Thunderbird email files onto this partition but, paste is grayed out or non existent in Gnome Commander however using split pane I can drag and drop the files to mydata backup.
try chmod command to that folder
