Hi, Not sure which forum I should be in? can anyone help me?
I’ve tried to use the simple Wizard to install the necessary multimedia codecs but…
"Software installation
The installation has failed. For more information, see the log file at /var/log/YaST2/y2log. Failure stage was: unknown
Error Message
Root privileges are required. Either they were not supplied, or an unknown error occurred.
"
/var/log/YaST2/y2log wont allow me, the admin, to open this directory, and i’m not sure of terms needed to use the terminal.
This was a simple procedure in 10.3!
Thanks

I usually install the codecs using Yast’s “Software Management” module. How do you do it?
Just login as root to perform this task. There’ll be no problem regarding permission during installation. After installation get out from root and relogin as normal user. dont forget to give permission to user to access that application. Best way is to use source files for installation.
