peek into a folder by hovering it

Hi,
Without any click, I can peek into a folder (only a folder in my desktop folder) by hovering it. I would like to disable this functionality
I use openSUSE 11.2

Thanks

Hi, welcome here.

Check the settings of the widget, I don’t know, but there might be an option there.

my desktop is set to folderview, and I can’t find the way to disable…
I found a link, but it doesn’t help me more :

Hello papagon,

As far as I know there isn’t a way to disable this feature.
But I’ve found a workaround.

  1. Right-click on your desktop.
  2. Select Create New->Link to Application…
  3. Enter the name for your folder.
  4. Click on the “Application” tab.
  5. Enter in the textbox “Command”
dolphin /path/to/directory
  1. Click on Ok and you’re done.

If you don’t want the ugly icon you can replace it with the default folder icon.
Just right click on the icon->Properties.
Now click on the icon in the upper-right corner.
You’ll see a pull-down menu. Set it to Places and select the icon named folder.

If you use Konqueror instead of Dolphin the you simply change the command into:

konqueror /path/to/directory

Tip:idea:: You can give the link a purple, grey, green, orange or an other color folder.

Good luck!

Thank you for your answer, but as you know, I want to use my folders as folders, it means it must remain possible to drag and drop files in them… and your idea doesn’t allow this. :’(

Hello papagon,

Sorry, you’re right that you can drag and drop into the folders.

I’ve found a plasmoid that allows you to drag and drop files into folders.
The only problem with this plasmoid is that you can’t open the folder by clicking on it.

If you still want to give it a try here’s the link:

Best of luck!
