PDF faxing

I hope that this is the appropriate forum.

I have a PDF file (a medical prescription) that needs to be fax. Can’t email, the pharmacy will not dispense the prescription if it is emailed. It has to be faxed.

Does anybody know of some software or web service that would do that. I need to do that once every 2 month.

I have googled some and found a dozen of services but I would need to subscribe, their free service is only for 7 or 14 days per “forever”

Thanks

Hi elfroggio,

Your options seem very limited. I don’t know the specifics of web-fax services but it seems quite usual that they require a subscription. After all, fax is originally an analog technology and - don’t laugh - the nearly only way in Germany to legally transmit documents beside paper mail. A hard copy needs to be sent, anyway. (Please let’s not go into details about BEA or “E-Post Brief”.)
If you don’t want that you need appropriate hardware - a multifunction printer or a suitable router or a simple fax card. Both, my Epson printer and Fritz!Box do provide fax service. I didn’t even bother to set up either of them due to lack of demand. If you really need this on a regular base check for some cheap hardware - shouldn’t cost a fortune.

Hi
Get a fax machine? I see one that is free for 10 pages, then $0.20 per extra page… doesn’t see to have a time limit…

Medical places and their seeming worship of fax technology. It’s the same where I live. It just seems so bizarre to me.

If I don’t know someone who can let me use their business fax machine, I’m thinking two places to try:

  1. The library
  2. Kinko’s or similar.

Do you have fritzbox router? They integrated the function in software and you can install roger router in linux to fax (it is installed as a printer). Works good for me.

Use FaxZero. FREE; 3 or 4 pages per fax, 3 or 4 times per day!
HTH. Take Care.
