PCR 15 validation failed after recent Tumbleweed update (kernel 6.18.9)

Hello,

I’m experiencing boot failures with PCR 15 validation after updating openSUSE Tumbleweed. The system stops at boot with these errors:

ERROR: the validation of PCR 15 failed
ERROR: Missing measure-pcr-prediction file
Use ‘measure-pcr-validator.ignore=yes’ in cmdline to bypass the check
*** The system will be halted. Press any key …

System details:

  • openSUSE Tumbleweed 20260209
  • Kernel: 6.18.9-1.1
  • Boot: systemd-boot
  • Updated packages include: sdbootutil-1+git20260206.54f4a16-1.1

What I’ve tried:

  1. First update caused the issue (between Feb 6-11, 2026)
  2. Rolled back via Snapper snapshot - system boots fine
  3. Updated again today (Feb 11) - same PCR 15 error occurs
  4. The sdbootutil updates from Feb 6 are included but don’t resolve the issue

Is this a known issue with the current snapshot and are there additional fixes in progress? Should I wait or disable PCR validation as a Workaround?

I don’t have FDE with TPM enrollment (I get “WARNING: /etc/sysconfig/fde-tools not found” during updates), but I’d prefer to keep PCR validation working for security reasons.

Thanks for any guidance!
