PCI TV Tuner

hello
i have some small issuses with my freshly installed Sabrent tv tuner card

configure tv tuner gui autodetets the card

SAA7130 Video Broadcast Decoder
• Configured as TV card number 0
• Driver saa7134

cool
I select edit then tv channels

north america so i select NTSC and us-cable

ok just to clarify i have a dual satellite tuner that feeds “channel 73” to all rooms of the house and channel 3 to the main tv. all bedroom tvs search for cable channels and find only 73 which i then use an rf remote to change channels on the remote tvs, dang that sounds confusing from here, but any ways

scan channels

device has no tuner, exiting
Number of TV Stations Found: 0

the tv tuner clearly has a tuner on it the box and the device say it does

any help would be appreciated
thanks

Unfortunately I cannot test how the newer OprnSuSE goes about putting the
card config ( we are going all DVB here and so I have not got my old saa7134
card ) but if you can tell me id there is an option to adjust the card ID in
the Yast configuration window?

Your card should have the setting of 42

As to he tuner can you type in a console:

lspci -vv

and cut&paste the output of the tv card details.

I will have a look in my old docs to see if I have any info,

Nope that will do for now

I did find a page that might save me and you a lot of searching:

http://jobinau.googlepages.com/saa7130basedtvtunercardunderlinux

Not a definitive answer but may give you some ideas.

IIRC it is all down to the tuner= variable and the card No.

The old card I had used card 39 ( I think memory is a little blurry ) and
tuner 0 for Phillips experimental design ( as I say this is all old memories
so could not be the exact numbers )

To get a list of the different cards and tuners you can find them on the net
but it is best to install the kernel source and read the documents.

You do not need to do anything with the source but it will have the latest
docs built in in /usr/src/linux ( sim link to current kernel version ) in
there is a dir called Documentation and you are looking for the video4linux
dir.

This has a list of cards and tuners, sometimes it is basically a trial and
error to find the tuner you need, depending on where on the net you find
posts/docs you will get different tuners that work ( due to new ones being
added and the list changing ).

I have seen that tuner/card 69, 63, 0, 1 and others should work however you
might get sound with some or just video, as that linked site page says
though on the 7130 cards it is a simple pass-through and you might need the
physical link to your sound-card.

Just folow the rmmod and modprobe with the different options to find the one
that works for you.

sorry cannot help anymore today gotta go do some work, will be back later
this week though if you have probs, I might get on tonight but not sure.

Have fun.
