The strangest thing happened to my PC.
I have a AMD MSI motherboard X570 Chipset.
Yesterday I made the latest update to my system, it included a new kernel (6.12.0-160000.38.1).
Today I boot my pc and the boot screen …the Bios, not the Linux one … changed!
I used to get a single text prompt for my password since I encrypted my filesystems.
Today I get a set of options on a ncurses style CLI prompt one of which was simply boot and that’s what I choose.
The computer booted normally and I find it strange because I did not change anything on the bios of the motherboard. I didn’t touch that, it was just the same as before the Kernel upgrade. Is there any way that this has been a change induced by the kernel update?
I don’t think I have seen any change for example to Grub or any other module that could influence the boot process specially because this computer worked for a long time never had this issue.
Anyone have a problem like this before or the same set of behavior?
Well I just rebooted the computer and everything is now normal. Maybe there was a press on the enter key while I was booting and there was no password inserted on the first time. So I may not have noticed that and of course if there was no password provided provided the UEFI bios asked again and this time with the ncurses interface. Everything seems normal, so please ignore the thread.
You could close it.
