PAX installation

OpenSUSE newbie here. I want to enable PAX support on my machine. I’ve installed the pax and pax-utils rpms. What configuration do I need to enable to get pax up and running?

Hi
Not sure what you mean, pax is a command line archive tool, just run the command with the relevant switches to create a pax archive?

Probably some more details on your expectations?

in addition to what Malcolm has written: please define what you mean by
“PAX” and/or “PAX support”

as far as i can tell the two rpms you have installed are in no way
(other than rpm name) related to each other or used together:

pax is the POSIX standard archive tool. It supports the two most
common forms of standard archive (backup) files - CPIO and TAR.

pax-utils are tools to check ELF files for security relevant properties
such as non-executable stack.

as asked: what did you have in mind?

dd

None. It’s fine. Maybe you can start by reading the man page:

$ man 1 pax
