Sorry to say I don’t know how to do this.
I need the path to my printer, have to put that in LyX to get it to print.
Did you try configuring the printer through YaST==>Printer ?
you probably need to specify other details to get more help
==>openSUSE version you are using
==>Desktop environment
==>Printer brand / mode number etc…

As we are in the network-internet forum, I have to assume that you want
to print to a network shared, non-local printer. Well, you have to add
that one first to CUPs (client), and use it from there. The path could
be something like socket://192.168.200.20:9100

If you no are asking about a networked printer, then please ask a
moderator to move your thread to a more appropriate forum.

It is not a network printer but which forum would be more appropriate?
The printer is configured but LyX requires that I provide the path to my printer before it will work in LyX.
Canon ip4000
openSuSe 12.3 64 bit
KDE

applications, or installation.

No, it wants a printer name. The command “lpstat -a” gives you all the
available printers on your system. I just tried it before posting this
answer.
