passwordless login not working on 12.3

On opensuse 11 i use the cammand “pam-config -a --unix2-nullok” and this allows me to create users and and remove the password with the command “passwd -d pos1
This allows the user to login as pos1 and no password prompt appeasr and the .profile of the user runs a script and when they exit the script exits.
**BUT **
On opensuse 12 i do the same BUT cannot get rid of the password prompt is does not work and "enter" will not let me in either.
The reason for this is the dos telnet app i use i program the F10 key to login as pos1 and i cannot program the key to enter the password as well.
Please tell me how i can get this th work on Opensuse 12.3 or 12.2
thank you

Sorry, I can’t help you directly (I hope others will tune in soon). But nevertheless a few words about how the forums here function. We are all mere openSUSE users like you and most people are very willing in trying to help others. There is no need to try to make your post more attractive for helpers by using large fonts, etc. Just the default font will do. When everybody would try to make his/her problem more important then the other problems by using larger and still larger fonts, we realy would have a problem. And many people see such behaviour as “shouting”:

And while I am at it. When you want to do something that is realy appreciated here (and often required) then please use CODE tags around computer text. It is not easy to find how to do this, thus we have to explain: use the # button in the tool bar of the post editor. Copy/past your computer text straight from the terminal window in between the code tags. When it is a command with output, then please make a sweep that includes the prompt, the command, the output and the next prompt.

Thus not as you did, but:

pam-config -a --unix2-nullok

“enter*-” will not let me in either.

(please notice that I do not see any of the fonts Henk mentions . I
don’t use the wed access. However, I do not understand your entire
explanation)

Few people would be doing that kind of thing or even bother to find out
how to do it. Because…

removing the password is dangerous.
using telnet is dangerous.

So I will not even attempt to answer that.

The way to login remotely without typing a password is to setup ssh with
a pair of keys (private an public), without passphrase. It is of course
secure only as long as the client machine is also secure, because that
machine and account will not be asked for a password or passphrase.

Thanks for the replys so far just to clear things up i am new at forums so not too fimilar with syntax to use and
the systems we install is a linux machine with our POS software installed and the terminals are dos boxes only with telnet and the sites we install these at have NO internet
so security is not an issue we are trying to make it simple for the man in the street just to press a button to login with out password prompting
thanks

One other thing ther is no openSUSE 11 where you by chance running the Novell SUSE enterprise?? openSUSE and SUSE are not the same thing and may have different setups. There is a SUSE 11 but openSUSE is 11.1,11.2,11.3,11.4 no just 11

SInce this sounds like a commercaial situations I wonder if you were running the commercial SUSE
