Passwordless accounts?

Hello,

I’d like to set up 3-4 accounts that do not require a password to log in, I realise this isn’t very secure but it’s on the ‘family laptop’ which has some users with a rather limited knowledge of computers who I know for sure will forget their password more than once… or will just forget one needs to be entered after clicking their name in the login list.

So to prevent having to explain it like 12 times and looking up passwords I’d rather prevent having to use them all together, is there any way this is possible? The YaST Users and Groups tool doesn’t seem to allow it.

Please don’t reply with how insecure it is, I just want to know if it’s possible or not (and how if it is).

I took a little search on the forum…

This came out: Passwordless Login Problem - openSUSE Forums

So it should be possible, but with a bit of a workaround I guess…

Guess I’m to blame for relying on google too much

Thanks, I’ll give it a go.

[Edit]: and I failed… did they change something in 11.1?
Getting
linux-nyon:/ # passwd xxxx
Changing password for xxxx.
Nieuw wachtwoord:
Slecht wachtwoord: te kort

Last 2 translate to
New password:
Bad password: too short

I actually found it through google :stuck_out_tongue:
