Password Issue

I am a newbie. I installed OpenSuse v 11 into a VMware Server virtual machine. All went well and I can get to the desktop no problem. However, whenever I want to do something it (like add repositories) I am asked for my root password. During the whole install, I was never asked to create any passowrd either as user or root. Is there something I am missing?? Is there a generic root password??

As I recall if you did not specify one explicitly the ‘root’ password is
the same as the password of the first user you created during the
installation. You may also, as that user, want to try ‘sudo yast’ to
see if that does the trick, but otherwise try your user’s password.

Good luck.

That seemed to do it, thanks

And please, now change your root password so that it differs fom the password of any (or the only one) of your users!
