Partitions vs RAID BIOS HDD

Hi,

New forum member here.

My ‘sandbox’ computer has a BIOS RAID card with 5 HDD atached. I could divide up the RAID into many hardware logical drives, or just make a really big array, then use openSUSE to partition the drive.

Any reason to divide up the array in BIOS over Lunix partitions?

I went ahead and just used the Linux partition on one big hardware array. But it just my ‘sandbox’ so I if there is a good reason to redo it, no big problem.

LVM is more flexible than hard partitions, as you can increase the size of LVM partitions.
