installed new windows7 and the partition number has changed from hd1,8 to hd1,7
what are things necessary to change?.
it is not booting up by editing root (hd1,6)
is it possible to avoid reinstall?
i meant to say suse-11.1 was in /dev/sda8 and noe the partition has become /dev/sda7
and i am not able to boot in suse
Another user on this forum had a similar problem. See
“No operating system found” upon boot after partition resize - openSUSE Forums](http://forums.opensuse.org/install-boot-login/403556-no-operating-system-found-upon-boot-after-partition-resize.html)
for a solution.
this is a different problem from resizing partition.
i had to delete a partition for windows7 requirement of space.
all the trial and error method mentioned in that thread did not work for me.
my hd0 hard disk has gentoo, ubuntu installs.
gentoo is my main boot loader grub.
i could copy the menu.lst suse stanzas to gentoo grub menu.lst and was able to boot into suse-11.1
then with yast2 i installed grub to root partition from scratch.
devices.map i edited manually .
now i can boot from root partition and main boot loader.
thanks for showing the thread which gave ssome ideas to get here,
