I just got a lenovo yoga 13 with 128gb ssd, and would like to dual boot openSUSE 12.3 KDE with windows 8. Long story short I have no idea what I’m doing. There are a bunch of crazy partitions for recovery and I am afraid to delete things. I have an empty 8gb flash drive, with which to install. If someone could explain what to do I would greatly appreciate it. Also please explain it like I’m an idiot (because I am).

So the number one issue may be using secure boot. Do you know or can confirm if using secure boot for Windows 8 on this system? openSUSE has a shim method as I understand it, to work with the Windows 8 secure boot setup, but I am not sure who around here has done it. So disabling secure boot would be one solution. Next issue is GPT disks. On a new system, your main disk is likely to be using GPT as opposed to the old MBR setup, but each system can be different. Things to identify, is the PC UEFI enabled (must be for secure boot)? Are you using secure boot to start Windows? Is your disk GPT partitioned (most likely if secure boot)? Where do you intend on installing openSUSE? There must be free disk space or you must free up disk space in order to place openSUSE on the same disks as Windows 8. I can say that SSD drives are small and placing both Windows 8 and openSUSE on the same small disk could be a problem. openSUSE can be booted just fine from an external or secondary hard drive should you decide to do that. These are important questions you must be able to answer and to have an installation plan based on your responses. I have a blog about GPT and MBR disks you could read here if you like: Creating Partitions During Install for MBR and GPT Hard Disks - Blogs - openSUSE Forums
Thank You,
