I manage my network through networkmanager and it already has the nameservers 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220. And ddclient configuration file has already been set according to instructions at

OK if you have this configured correctly you won’t be able to grep a running ddclient it will start and fail and very very quietly. Also forgot to mention you need to change the label for the network.
The only way I found was by using the runlevel editor in yast and checking status it kept returning stale pid and stopped. Then finally tracking the output to /var/log/messages there is a missing dependency(!*$@ing hell) OK so you need to install perl-IO-socket-SSL something like that I did a zypper search. After that when you look in /var/log/messages you should have good.
That was horrible to troubleshoot, no verbosity, and a missing dependency. It probably needs a bug report whilst I’m not for unneeded dependencies. With Suse the way it is a small dep on the missing dep is tiny to some other sins. I won’t be bug reporting it.
Hello Friends ,
I am new to this thread As i am worried about the online safety of my child I just searching on net to find something or parental control.
and I found Kids Email | Safe Mail for Children. This helps me alot regarding the safety of my child and fully control on his online activities.
How about that oldfashioned way, have a talk with your kids on the issue?
The best piece of advice in the whole thread, to my mind
As for software - my aunt (mother of a 8-years-old girl) asked me to install Actymac Dutywatch and Protemac Keybag (I’m not pretty sure if the names are correct), keyloggers for parental and work monitoring.

http://www.scrubit.com/ might prove helpful as well, until the kids learn
how to reconfigure their DNS services, that is.
I am looking for a parental control for my home computers. I want something simple and do not want to go through the elaborate setup of Dans Guardian + Squid. I am currently using WOT with Fox Filter on Firefox ; but Fox Filter has it’s limitations for the free version.
Recently i found that mobicip.com supports the linux platform for their parental controls but found from their support team that they only support Ubuntu as of now and do not have plans for OpenSuse support. They are pretty much in lines of K9 or Norton family. Is there anything similar for Opensuse that i can get ?
I known Porn Filter is also a parental control software .It can block the site you don’t want your kids to see.and mac kelogger also may be suitable for you
Thanks for all your response & advice. However, my belief is that parental control is needed to avoid inadvertently opened material on various websites. It may not be always a talk related issue with children.
Most of the software recommended are either keyloggers or for Mac.
I also know OpenDNS is popular. It’s free. Besides thereare professional web filters such as remote spy software to block unwanted websites and programs on your computer. Hope can help you. Good luck!
