Paraview fails to run on OpenSUSE 12.2

Greetings!

I’ve installed paraview from science repository and when I run it I get segmentation fault.

Does anyone have any success in running rpm-installed paraview in OpenSUSE 12.2? In OpenSUSE 12.1 paraview worked OK.

OS: OpenSUSE 12.2 64 bit
vtk is installed from science repo.

Best regards, Aleksey.

Hi,

the same here. But only on computer with the onboard graphic chip HD3000 of the Intel i7 and the default driver. On other computers with an NVidia graphic card and the nvidia driver everything works.

In our case it affects more 3D software and is not limited to paraview. Perhaps an driver isue.

Best regards, Andreas

Thank you for your reply.

Clear, I also have embedded video card… And what else software fails to run?

I have nVidia GTX 460 card. I believe that I installed the correct driver.

When I download and unpack the binary from paraview.org web site (for linux 64 bit OS), I always got “segmentation fault”.
Today, I install the paraview3.14 (it looks like it is the unstable version) from opensuse.org, most functions work, but, when I loaded a stl file, paraview quited by itself.

In fact, paraview-3.12 compiled by gcc-4.5.1 works OK on OpenSuse 12.2.

P.S. I’ve installed OpenFOAM-1.6-ext on my system using gcc-4.5.1 (not system compiler). Paraview was installed as a part of OpenFOAM.
