Panel Kde 4

I can’t find a theme I really like for the panel in Kde 4 but there’s a function to use a background image under Desktop Theme-Panel Background. Unfortunately whenever I try to use that all it does is create a very thin light border along the top of the panel. Does anyone know why this feature is not working properly, or am I not doing this right?

No help on this one huh?

Has anyone else “seen” this behavior?

for me (openSUSE 11.4, KDE 4.6 (KDE:/Distro:/Factory)) this works. when i
choose a different theme for “panel background”, the background of my
panels changes. in my case, the default panel at the bottom changes
immediately, my additional panel on the side after re-login, or when i
change it’s size.

this is not a “background image,” but a “theme” that changes the way the
panel background is displayed. some have background images, others are
transparent; and it can also change the way the border looks.

what did you expect to happen? try different themes, make sure the panel
gets re-drawn. to actually put a particular background image in there,
you’ll probably have to modify the theme, i guess. was never that
concerned with how things look, as long as they’re functional and don’t
disturb me.

In Desktop Theme in Personal Settings on the Details tab there are drop down menus that allow you to customize your theme. One of these menus allows you to choose the background for the panel. One of the items in this menu is “File”. Unless I’m mistaken that allows you to use an image file that isn’t associated with any theme for the background for the panel.

That’s what I’m trying to do.

i’m sorry, didn’t see that option “File…” before. i’m not sure what it’s
supposed to do, but, like with you, it does nothing much when i choose
some image file. if nobody else here knows, you might want to ask at KDE
forums or mailing lists.

Hmmm…

Yeah. Of course. O.K. Thanks
