Pain with TV Tuner Card

Hi,

My system’s config is Intel 845 motherboard and a 2 Ghz Celeron Processor. I have a Pinnacle TV Tuner card installed on this.

When I install Opensuse 11.0 it asks me to install MoTV as the last phase of installation and I accept on this.

When the operating system loads, I am able to view MoTV all the television channels but my problem starts here.

I am not able to hear the audio of these channels in MoTV.

Just FYI I have connected my Pinnacle TV Tuner cards audio output to my “Line In” in my onboard Audio.

This works very well on my M$-Windows partition.

I am completely new to Linux. Pls help.

Thanx and regards,

tvks

Is this an analog TV card or DVB-T?

Have you checked that you are actually accepting sound input on the line-in of the sound card? Bring up a mixer and check if that channel’s enabled for capture and the slider is up and any gain boost is turned on if needed.

Of course you should also check that the TV card is actually generating output. A connection an amplifier is useful here.

I have an analog TV card too and I can believe sound without picture, but picture without sound is harder because the sound is modulated along with the picture on the carrier.

Hi,

Hey, the mistake was on my end. I did not see an option called “Auto Mute” in MoTV.

It was this option checked which had disabled my sound. Now its fixed.

Thanx a lot for your response.
