[Pacman Repo][Zypper] Suggest to change vendor to OpenSUSE OSS repo?

When I was trying to update system, zypper asks to change vendor pacman → OpenSUSE. I decided to do not do that, cause maybe Pacman need to recompile packages and push updates, so I select to kept older version.

But the situation occur very long. I think maybe pacman would not release new packages. I have read some IP/patents got outdated. So what to do?

So we have had 4 packages with problem: gstreamer-plugins-libav, libopencore-amrnb0, libopencore-amrwb0, libsox3-14.4.
What to do? I would not lost support for some video/audio format or performance/power preserves.

It seems that you didn’t update your machine for a long time…these 4 packages got removed from packman as they are no longer need to be provided by packman. So it is absolutely safe and recommended to switch them to openSUSE.

Thank. I updated my machine, but not fully - I select always to keep previous versions.
Again, thanks.

In this way you keep obsolete/unsecure/unsupported package versions on your system. It is recommended to carefully read the solver questions and decide accordingly. As the use of packman may cause trouble, it is necessary to do some basic research if you get a solver question (as example if the package got removed from packman or only the build infrastructure of packman is lagging behind…).
