Packman is filling repos for 11.3

For users of 11.3 pre-releases:

Packman packages for 11.3 are here:

ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/linux/packman/suse/11.3

Replace Packman’s Factory repo with this one. Other package will appear here.

Yes, I posted here:
Packman repo edit - openSUSE Forums

But they are going to take a while to catch up application wise, so I’m still using Factory

We’ve just started, but we should be up to speed with the most important (= codec) packages really soon.
As we have several thousands of packages, it will take a few weeks to have everything built for 11.3 though (hence after the 11.3 release).
Our hardware resources are limited, unfortunately, and time is a scarce resource, even more so as it is completely done by volunteers during their spare time.

But, as said, we’re working on it

We are all eternally grateful to all at Packman.

THANK YOU!

thankyou guys , you are doing awesome.

A BIG thank you from me also.

Cheers Packman people. Had some trouble on the broadcom driver. Trusting I would get it to work using ndiswrapper, I found out during an install, that a precompiled driver for the new kernel had been released. When install was finished I could pick it directly from the web, only issue during install solved. My son is completely in love with his new HP/Compaq mini running 11.3 with KDE4. He has a special playlist which contains specimina of media files of all types on his system, one of each, mp3, mp4, flac, ogg, flv and others, the playlist finishes completely, so codecs seem to be okay. Cheers once again.

Well worth the short wait. Many thanks to packman contributors.

could Packman use the openSuse Build Service? or it a question of
things like proprietary codecs?

openSuse 11.2 x64bit, KDE4.4, Opera weekly

Hi
They do use there own OBS (You can install it locally yourself if you
want) and yes it’s the proprietary nature of the packages.

it supports Packman, if it can’t be trusted neither can anything it
handles or passes through…so, you tell me: Do you listed to music on
openSUSE? if so, you need to trust se.unixheads.org

I think unixheads can be trusted. I’ve donated money to their site a couple of times.

I’ve also used them for downloads at various times.

could Packman use the openSuse Build Service?

We can’t, because most packages provided in the Packman repository may not be hosted on the openSUSE Build Service.

or it a question of things like proprietary codecs?

Yep.

But as malcolmlewis wrote, we do have our own instance of the openSUSE Build Service software, on a server that has been sponsored to us, as well as several build hosts that are kindly provided to us by some fine folks – Siju and Ava|on on #packman](irc://irc.freenode.net/packman)

awesome, great news

is there a way to drop coins into that cause?

or, is http://se.unixheads.org/?donate good for that also??
